Flight Attendant Goes On Record To Reveal The Dirtiest Places On Planes
We all know that when you are in any type of public location, there are going to be places that are better avoided. Most of us try to avoid the bathroom or perhaps we avoid grabbing handles that are frequently touched, but there are other things that need to be avoided as well.
This includes any time you are on a plane, and there are some areas that you may not want to touch. This was brought up nicely by a flight attendant based in Miami, who says that the toilets and trays are one thing but the seatback pockets are the real dirty areas.
In order to get the word out to the world, Brenda Orelus posted a now-viral TikTok video, saying that the seatback pockets are rarely ever cleaned and they are full of germs. She also says that she has personally seen passengers putting everything in those pockets from soiled diapers to food.
In the video, she said: “Did you know seat-back pockets are the dirtiest surface on the aircraft? They’re dirtier than the lavatories, they’re dirtier than the seat cushions and they’re dirtier than the tray tables.”
She went on to explain another reason why the seatback pockets are the dirtiest area of the airplane. She said: “It’s because they’re never cleaned. Unless somebody vomits or there’s something ooey, gooey and pus coming out of there, it doesn’t get cleaned.”
Of course, people that clean the plane between flights will go in and remove any trash that they find in the pockets, but they don’t wipe the area down. Essentially, you are getting germs that have accumulated over time, and who knows what you are touching when you touch them.
This came as a real shock to many people who watched the video. Some commenters were saying how they put their own personal items in the seatback pocket, including their phones.
There were also some commenters who said that the cleaners would actually take the time to vacuum out the pockets and a secondary team would come in between them.
