We spend a lot of time on TikTok, so we are used to optical illusions that serve as a way to trick the eye. This one might be the most puzzling one that we have come across yet, though, and that is saying something.

The illusion that you are about to see is centered around a number that has been hidden within a black and white background. The trouble is that very few people are actually able to figure it out.

@pasillusion is a TikTok magician who initially shared the illusion with their 6,400+ followers. “What do you see in this image?” he inquired. As it turns out, many people found themselves struggling.

He claims that only 2 out of every 5 people who take a closer look at this one are actually able to solve it. Some suggested wiggling your phone, while others said that they could only see lines. Viewers were not consistent with the answers that they had to offer, but that is okay. Many comments reported seeing a 7, while others claimed that they saw 17.

If you cannot see a number, the illusionist claims that you should try looking at it from a bit further away. If that works for you, please feel free to let us know. We were eventually able to figure it out but it took us a little while. If your friends and loved ones are being honest with you, it is going to take them a decent amount of time as well.

These are the illusions that keep us up at night. We do not know how the people who share them end up living with themselves. If you are anything like us, this one will take you a while but maybe you are among the lucky ones who are able to see this within a few moments.
