Flight Attendant Shares Tips To Scoring Freebies Mid-Flight
We love to travel but the process can be tiresome. Plane rides are not always as comfortable as they could be, that is for sure.
Now, this flight attendant is here to give away all of the secrets, so that we are able to enjoy some well-deserved freebies. Craig Featherby, president of the Flight Attendants’ Association of New Zealand, is uniquely equipped to provide this information.

If passengers happen to be celebrating a special occasion, they are more likely to receive preferential treatment, which makes sense. “Just last week, I went to Brisbane and back and we had somebody celebrate 50 years, so we took two glasses of Champagne from business (class) into economy,” Craig said, according to Stuff.
Passengers can also receive nicer treatment if they are willing to assist with a medical emergency while on board. Craig sadly recalled an instance where a doctor assisted a woman who had a miscarriage during the flight. From there, he was offered an upgrade.

“I had the seats available, so I moved him into business class, and I told all the other customers in business premier why I was doing that so they knew what was going on,” he explained. Airlines have been known to provide staff with the necessary tools to make everyone’s trip a great one.
Craig went on to say that bribery is certainly acceptable for anyone who is looking to make their flight an even better one. We were today years old when we learned that this was even an option. Larger gifts and cash are not acceptable but you can certainly provide a card or some chocolate. Those who are willing to do so are often rewarded with free glasses of wine.

He is not the only one who recommends going out of your way to show the cabin crew that they matter to you. “Bring them chocolate. Bring them candy. It’s a few bucks just to say thanks. I guarantee you’ll get free drinks with that. One hundred percent,” says Shawn Kathleen, a retired flight attendant.
For many, it is just a pleasure to be back at work. The ongoing pandemic had many of them at home for the most part.
“They work incredibly hard to get customers to where they need to be, so the best gift customers can give to our crew is to give them a friendly greeting, a big smile and a thank you,” Viv Vincent, Air New Zealand general manager of cabin crew, said, per Stuff.co.
